Most ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) variants are battery-free and have a tritium/fibre optic illuminated reticle that automatically adjusts brightness dependent on available light.

Several variants are equipped with a user-adjustable brightness setting powered by a single AA battery. The ACOG 3.5×35 LED and 4×32 LED models both offer six adjustable brightness settings.
